Web
Design / Web Designer Process:
Communicate / Define
This stage involves the Q&A and FAQs of the project
and any software or extras that will be involved with the
devleopment of the website (ie: listserve vs Topica discussion
and decision taking place at the moment).
In this stage, the final estimate is determined for the
final project as well as a due date is established. If one
has not been provided at this time - a contract is derived
at this time as well.
The Design and Prototype (mock
ups)
After the deposit is received and the contract has been
agreed upon and signed by both the Client and the Developer,
the design process will begin. During this phase of development
the Client will provide the Developer with any photos and/or
content which is to be placed on the website. Content =
text, listings, etc.
The actual graphical design of the site will take anywhere
from 7-14 days (pending holidays). The Developer will present
3 mock up designs (samples) for the Client to view on a
private web address available to the Client only. At this
time the Client should take note of any aspects that are
appealing as well as non-appealing, changes to be made,
new colors, photo alignment, etc. If any of the three mock
ups are not to the Client's liking - the Developer will
offer 2 additional mock ups at no additional charge.
Once the design is approved by the Client, the Developer
will then convert the graphical version of the website mock
up to an actual web site / web page. It is at this time
that the website begins to take shape and content and navigation
are inserted.
Database Development / Testing
The database development will take place simultaneously
with the graphical design of the website. The initial testing
phase will be between the programmer and the Developer (Glowing
Designs). Once initial testing is comleted, the Developer
will present the database to the Client for further testing
to be sure everything is in place and in working order according
to the specs of the project.
Once testing is complete, the database will be implemeted
into the design of the website, creating a dynamic website
allowing for updates to the site without accessing any design
elements of the page.
Final Website Design
At this time a list of additions, changes, etc. will need
to be submitted to the Developer in order to keep within
the initial projected deadline. This is where the "little
changes" are important to catch before completion and
launch of the site to the public.
The site will require one more approval of completion at
this point in time. Once it has been officially "signed
off" as complete - the Developer will upload the website
to it's permanent domain name address (www.your-site-address.org)
At this time....
Final payment is due. Please refer to the terms and conditions
of your web design contract.
